01The Whole Home
Every opening is part of your home’s defense.

Windows and doors are where storm debris, forced entry, and solar heat reach the home first. Most homeowners solve those risks with separate products: shutters for hurricanes, alarms or bars for security, and window treatments for heat.

Fortress Screens combine those jobs in one custom system that stays installed year-round. The protection is already in place before the forecast changes and remains part of the home every day after the storm passes.

02One Screen. Three Solutions.

Three reasons to protect the same opening.

Every Fortress Screen delivers hurricane protection, enhanced security, and energy savings. You do not have to choose which problem matters most.

03Residential Applications

Custom fit for every vulnerable opening.

Primary Openings

Windows

Custom panels for standard, oversized, bay, and shaped windows. Each screen is manufactured to the exact opening instead of forced into a stock size.

Entry Protection

Doors and Sliders

Protect entry doors, French doors, and wide sliding-glass openings while keeping the home usable and the view open.

Outdoor Living

Lanais and Patios

Permanent stainless steel panels for lanais, patios, porches, sunrooms, and Florida rooms, with engineered options for pool cages.

Overhead Glass

Skylights

Impact-resistant protection for horizontal glass exposed to debris, hail, and falling objects.

04Screen Enclosures

Make the outdoor room permanent.

Traditional enclosure mesh tears, stretches, and gets replaced with the same material that failed. Fortress uses stainless steel panels in structural aluminum framing to protect lanais, patios, porches, sunrooms, and engineered pool cages.

05Designed for the Home

Protection that belongs on the architecture.

Fortress Screens are built to look like a deliberate part of the home, not a storm product brought out once a year.

  • Visibility from inside remains similar to a standard window screen
  • Reduced visibility from outside adds privacy
  • Standard frame colors: White, Bronze, or Black
  • Custom fit for the exact size and shape of each opening
  • Bedroom egress screens included where required

07Compare the Options

Permanent metal changes the decision.

Most storm products protect only during a storm. Fortress remains useful every day as hurricane protection, a security barrier, and an exterior solar screen.

Option
What the homeowner manages
What Fortress changes

Shutters

Deployment, storage, timing, and a darkened home during use.

Permanent protection is already installed and does not cover the view from inside.

Impact Glass

The glass remains the point of impact and requires full replacement when damaged.

The stainless steel barrier absorbs impact before debris reaches the glass behind it.

Roll‑Down Systems

Moving components, deployment, and mechanical maintenance.

No motors, tracks, or moving mechanisms are required for protection.

Fabric Systems

Removable material exposed to Florida heat, UV, handling, and storage.

Metal mesh stays permanently mounted and delivers security and solar benefits year-round.

  • Custom-manufactured screens for each opening
  • Your choice of standard frame color

Insurance

Ask about wind mitigation credits

Fortress Screens are approved under the Florida Building Code as impact-rated protection. After installation, request a wind mitigation inspection so your insurer can document the protection. Actual savings vary by insurer, policy, and location.

For homes in managed communities, the association board is an approval gatekeeper. Use the HOA guidance page to prepare for the Architectural Review Committee process.

10Questions

Residential Frequently Asked Questions

Can Fortress Screens protect every window and door on my home?
Fortress Screens are custom manufactured for windows, entry doors, sliding doors, skylights, lanais, porches, sunrooms, and other residential openings. Pool cages require additional structural engineering, permitting, and coordinated installation.
Do Fortress Screens replace hurricane shutters?
They provide permanent Category 5 rated protection without seasonal deployment. The appropriate scope for your home is confirmed during the onsite measurement and quote.
Can I still see out clearly?
Yes. Visibility from inside is similar to looking through a standard window screen. From outside, the mesh reduces visibility into the home, adding privacy.
Do the screens reduce airflow?
Airflow remains breezy at normal speeds. The screen is permanently installed, so windows and screened outdoor spaces can continue to function as intended.
What frame colors are available?
White, Bronze, and Black are the standard frame colors. Premium custom colors may be available at additional cost. Color is selected during the onsite measurement visit.
How are bedroom egress requirements handled?
Egress screens are required in every bedroom. Additional egress screens per room are optional and can be discussed during measurement.
Can you protect sliding glass doors?
Yes. Fortress Screens are custom built for wide sliding-door openings as well as standard windows and entry doors.
Can Fortress build a lanai or pool enclosure?
Yes. Lanais, patios, porches, sunrooms, and Florida rooms can be fitted with permanent stainless steel panels. Pool cages require thicker structural aluminum, engineering plans, permits, and coordination with a general contractor. Explore Screen Enclosures.
Do Fortress Screens qualify for insurance discounts?
Many homeowners receive premium discounts after installation. Fortress Screens are approved as impact-rated under the Florida Building Code. Actual savings vary by insurer, policy, and location, so ask your insurer about wind mitigation credits.
How is residential pricing determined?
Every project is custom. Pricing depends on opening dimensions, quantity, frame selection, installation complexity, project type, and location. The onsite estimate is free.
Is financing available?
Yes. Financing is available through Hearth with no loan origination fees. You can request a quote first or check your estimated monthly payment online.
What warranty is included?
Fortress Screens carry a tiered warranty, including 10 years on structural frame integrity and 5 years on the structural integrity of the screen and frame attachment system. Full terms and exclusions apply.
What should I provide to my HOA?
Requirements vary by community. Start by reviewing your association’s exterior-modification or Architectural Review Committee process, then use the residential HOA approval guidance to organize the request.
