01The Vulnerable Opening
Glass is an opening. The screen becomes the barrier.

Windows, doors, sliding-glass doors, and storefront glass are often the most exposed points on a property. Once the glass is struck or broken, an intruder may have a path toward the interior.

Fortress places cut-proof, impact-proof stainless steel mesh outside the glass. The screen is designed to maintain an intact physical barrier at the opening, helping stop smash-and-grab and forced-entry attempts before someone reaches the space behind it.

02How It Stops Entry

The glass may break. The barrier stays.

Security depends on more than the mesh alone. Fortress combines stainless steel mesh, structural aluminum framing, a secure attachment system, exact manufacturing, and permanent mounting around the opening.

01

The opening is struck

Blunt force or a smash-and-grab attempt reaches the screen before the glass.

02

The mesh absorbs impact

Impact-proof stainless steel mesh resists the strike across the protected opening.

03

The frame holds the system

Structural aluminum and the attachment system keep the screen secured around the opening.

04

Entry remains blocked

Even if the glass behind it is damaged, the stainless steel screen remains the physical barrier.

03Designed for Daily Life

Security without making the property look fortified.

Fortress Screens are built to remain part of the architecture every day. The system protects the opening without covering the view from inside or adding the visual weight of exterior security bars.

  • Visibility from inside remains similar to a conventional window screen
  • Reduced visibility from outside adds privacy
  • Natural airflow remains during normal conditions
  • White, Bronze, and Black standard frame colors
  • Custom fit for unusual sizes and shapes
  • Bedroom egress screens included where required

04Where Security Matters

Custom protection for the openings people target.

Every screen is manufactured to the exact property, from residential windows and sliders to commercial entries and long glass window lines.

Residential

Windows

Protect ground-level, side-yard, rear, oversized, bay, arched, and shaped windows without adding bars across the view.

Residential

Doors and sliders

Custom protection for entry doors, French doors, rear entries, and wide sliding-glass openings that expose a large area of glass.

Commercial

Storefront and office glass

Create a permanent exterior barrier across exposed window lines while preserving daylight, visibility, and a professional appearance.

Commercial

Entries and facilities

Protect front and rear entries, medical facilities, municipal properties, offices, and other high-value or high-traffic buildings.

Life Safety

Bedroom egress

Egress screens are required in every bedroom so the protected opening retains an emergency exit path.

05Compare the Security Layers

Detection, reinforcement, and physical barriers do different jobs.

A property can use more than one security layer. The important question is whether the vulnerable opening remains physically blocked after someone strikes the glass.

Approach
Primary role
Fortress difference
Alarm systems
Detect activity and notify occupants or a monitoring service after a sensor is triggered.
Fortress adds a permanent physical barrier at the opening and can complement alarms, cameras, and locks.
Security bars
Create a visible physical barrier across a window or door.
Cut-proof mesh blocks the opening without the appearance or interior view of traditional bars.
Window film
Reinforces the glass surface. The glass remains the security layer at the opening.
Fortress adds a separate stainless steel barrier outside the glass.
Impact glass
Uses stronger glass, which can still be damaged and require replacement after an impact.
Exterior mesh is designed to absorb impact before it reaches the glass behind it.
Conventional screens
Provide ventilation and insect control with lightweight screen material.
Fortress uses cut-proof, impact-proof stainless steel mesh in structural aluminum framing.

Fortress Screens are one physical layer within a complete property-security plan. Locks, alarms, cameras, lighting, and operating procedures may remain appropriate for the property.

06Technical Proof

Security built into the materials.

07Always at the Opening

Permanent protection with no operating step.

The security barrier does not depend on a motor, track, battery, seasonal installation, or someone remembering to deploy it.

No Moving Parts

Nothing to roll, close, or arm

The physical barrier remains secured around the opening every day, whether the property is occupied or empty.

No Seasonal Setup

Protection stays installed

There are no loose panels, removable fabric systems, or temporary barriers to retrieve and install.

Low Visual Impact

Security remains part of the architecture

Custom sizing and frame options help the system read as a deliberate part of the building rather than an added security cage.

08Value Beyond Security

Security is the reason. The other benefits remain.

Every Fortress Screen also carries the same permanent hurricane and solar-performance value built into the product.

10Questions

Security Screen FAQs

Can the glass behind a Fortress Screen still break?
The screen is installed outside the glass to take the impact first. A severe strike may still damage the glass behind it, but the stainless steel screen is designed to remain the physical barrier at the opening.
What happens if someone breaks the glass?
The cut-proof, impact-proof stainless steel screen remains between the intruder and the interior. This is the central security advantage over relying on the glass alone.
Can the stainless steel mesh be cut?
Fortress Screens use cut-proof stainless steel mesh designed to resist knives and blades. The mesh is secured inside a structural aluminum frame and permanently mounted around the opening.
Are Fortress Screens the same as security bars?
No. Both create a physical layer at an opening, but Fortress uses woven stainless steel mesh instead of visible bars. Visibility from inside remains similar to a conventional window screen.
Do Fortress Screens replace an alarm system?
Fortress provides a permanent physical barrier at the opening. Alarms, cameras, locks, lighting, and monitoring perform other security functions and can be used alongside the screens.
Can I see clearly through the screens?
Yes. Visibility from inside is similar to looking through a conventional window screen. From outside, the mesh reduces visibility into the property, which adds privacy.
Do the screens affect airflow?
Normal airflow remains breezy through the 12x12 mesh. The screen remains insect-proof while protecting the opening.
Can Fortress protect sliding-glass doors?
Yes. Every panel is custom manufactured, including protection for wide sliding-glass doors, entry doors, unusual window shapes, and other residential or commercial openings.
Can Fortress protect commercial storefront glass?
Fortress Screens can be custom manufactured for commercial windows, entries, glass storefronts, medical facilities, offices, and other vulnerable ground-level openings.
How are bedroom egress requirements handled?
An egress screen is required in every bedroom so the protected opening retains an emergency exit path. Additional egress screens within a room are optional.
How do Fortress Screens compare with impact glass?
Impact glass remains the point of impact and can still be damaged and require replacement. Fortress adds an exterior stainless steel barrier designed to absorb impact before it reaches the glass behind it.
What frame colors are available?
White, Bronze, and Black are the standard frame colors. Premium custom colors may be available at additional cost.
What warranty is included?
Fortress carries tiered warranty coverage, including a 10-year warranty on the structural integrity of the frame and a 5-year warranty on the screen and frame attachment system.
How is security-screen pricing determined?
Every project is custom. Pricing depends on opening dimensions, quantity, frame selection, installation complexity, project type, and location. The onsite estimate is free.
